ABW Appliances is a family-owned local business, serving the DC and Baltimore Metro area for decades. Our mission is to provide home builders, home designers, and homeowners with appliances "A Better Way."

Our Start and Evolution

The Dhyani family immigrated to the U.S. in the 1960's to find a better way of life. In 1968 Mr. Dhyani began an appliance export company. In the 1980’s his son, Yogesh (Bob), founded ABW, formerly known as Appliance Builders Wholesalers. Alongside co-founder Tracy Dhyani, Bob built a small service-focused company providing high-end appliances to builders and trade professionals. As they grew, ABW showrooms became a favorite destination for kitchen designers and their clients. In 2016, ABW returned to its roots with the addition of the Builder Development Group (BDG), an elite team serving multi-family and production builders across Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia, and beyond. This marked the start of an era of expansion as ABW nearly tripled in size from 2016 to 2024. In 2018, after six years of serving at ABW in varying capacities, Ryan Simon was appointed, and now currently serves, as CEO.

ABW Today

Today, ABW Appliances has five appliance showrooms featuring kitchen, laundry, and outdoor appliances in Maryland and Northern VA, staffed by a team of seasoned appliance experts who aim to provide an outstanding client experience. ABW's Howard County headquarters is home to the Builder Development Group (BDG), support teams, primary warehouse, and appliance services. Bargain hunters will find floor models, overstock, scratch and dent, and legacy appliances in the adjacent clearance appliance outlet. ABW's in-house white glove services provide homebuilders, home designers, and homeowners with expert delivery, installation, haul-away, and more, managed right here from in Jessup, Maryland. With 130 full-time employees across the DC metro area, ABW Appliances has been named one of the area’s 50 fastest growing mid-size companies by the Baltimore Business Journal.
